Armstrong foil fuselage; which one?
« on: October 24, 2020, 08:10:20 PM »
Trying to decide on which Armstrong fuselage to get with an 85 cm mast and 1250 and 1850 foil wings. Will be used for wing foiling; I am 75kg/165lbs. Real Watersport video made in April says 60cm is best all around  and 70cm is real stable, more efficient with great glide with most other brands using around 70cm.
Looking for perspective on differences in
stability
turning/tacking/gybing
glide
pumping
any other insights i.e.. compatibility with real wing.
Thank you in advance for insights.

Hello Foiled,
With the 60 you cant go wrong. I had the same confusion before buying mine.
I tried a longer fuse from another brand and it was way too stiff in turns, I didnt like it.
And also if you compare with other you should not compare the length of the single fuse but the length of the all foil from side to side, in this case for example my ex Moses foil 1550cm (70 cm fuse) has the same length of my new Armstrong foil 1550cm (60 cm fuse), just because the way they are built to connect to the fuse is different.
Hope that helped.

I've got all three length fuses and I almost always run the 60CM.

Sometimes I like putting the 70 on with the 212 tail wing for extra glide, but still decent turning.  The main negative for me with the 70, at least when ocean wave riding (prone or winging) is the latency you get in altitude adjustments.

Sometimes I like putting the 50 on with the 232 tail wing and 2400 wing for winging in really small windswell bumps.  Can't wait to try this combo with the 1850.   Very quick altitude adjustments.

The 50 fuse for prone is fun too, but it takes some getting used to.  Given the infrequency of prone sessions these days thanks to winging, I don't use it very often.
Im a 59 65kg rider:

Boards:
   4'5.5" 33L Armstrong
   410 37L FSM
   5'1" 74L FSM
   511 100L FSM

Foils: Armstrong 800, 1050, 1550, 1850, 2400
Wings: BRM 2M-6M
