Board from H.....
« on: October 18, 2020, 05:42:39 AM »
My first full PVC over pieces of foam glued together. What a chore after the fill coat did not harden correctly so, paint it is. Innegra with carbon rails 7'3" x 30". Added another strap to get it wet winging today but it's for SUP foiling the outside sets. Dedicated wing board next :)

Nice work man.

I want some more build details though. Curious about the pvc. Is it sandwich or just wrapped? And what was your bagging rig for that big boy?

Thanks SC! I glued scraps of foam with the "red can expanding foam". Hot wired the shape, vac bag the 1/8" DVcell with 4oz glass and 7oz carbon innegra weave under the standing area. 4oz tight weave glass over complete board then hand layup 3.5oz innegra. Carbon on the rails for paddle impact protection. Took it out yesterday winging in 10-15 and it got on foil easily.  :D  Looking forward to some surf the next couple of days. Folks on the beach admiring and asking if I would build boards for them....uh, no...contact Dwight. Pictures to follow shortly.

Yeah man, “will you make me a board?” Is a nightmare lol.

Sorry but I have to get this straight.

Is the 4&7 under the 1/8” divinycell in the standing area. 4/7/D/4/I or D/4/7/4/I

And is the innegra on the outside? Does that mean you didn’t sand it, just bagged it and hot coated? I cannot imagine getting a smooth enough finish to just hot coat lol. I’m in awe.

Thanks DP.
Forgive me not adding photos.... Surfs up and the photos are on the pc at home. This weekend I'll be back in front of the pc. SC, yes 4oz under all dvcell with the addition of carbon/innegra weave under the standing area. The last layer is innegra which does not get sanded.  I'll explain more with the photos.

So what's with the no sand innegra thing?  You can wetsand kevlar, does that not work with innegra?

It creates a fuzz. Haven't worked with Kevlar.

Happy Board Building.
