MFC 2021 Foils
« on: October 17, 2020, 01:56:51 PM »
Great 3.5 day at Swell today.  Super fun swell and just us at the beginning (then only a handful).  TJ (Big Winds) was doing some sup foil laps testing out this new kit for 2021 from MFC.  Low aspect at the fuselage but High aspect out to the tips.  Very polished looking kit.  He had a 1450 and a 1250 with him.  I imagine we will see some video soon.

Damn, I should have gone to swell. I had a decent session but it got super light towards the end. I would have rendezvous-ed with you guys, but got shanghaied by Diane to do a little tech support which inevitably turned to three hours of misery. She has a couple of very slick Fujitsu scanners that scan all paperwork to Evernote. Of course the evernote-specific software is no longer supported and the newer Mac OS blows the old software up, but there's a workaround consisting of replacing the firmware to turn the scanner into their more general version, then setting up a cloud-based converter that pipes the stuff to Evernote. So that was fun. And you got to share a taste of the misery by reading about it.

I finally escaped to the river but it was a 5.0 1150 kind of afternoon. I started on the 1000, but it was too much work. I should have pumped up the 6.0 but I'm getting lazy. I just swapped in the 1150 and that worked until the wind died a bit more.

On the plus side, I got the tech bullshit done and Diane was able to update her system software without blowing too much up.

The pictures didn't load for me. From your description I'm picturing something like the cloud9 f28. Sort of a batwing shape.

Interesting concept for the front wing. The board shape is also a change from anything I've seen used in the past for DW SUP. Maybe it's just the large bevels but it looks relatively narrow and longer. Mast is looking damn svelte as well, hopefully they're using some seriously high grade carbon or that's going to be whippy.
