Session 1 - a beginner thread
« on: October 02, 2020, 09:07:38 AM »
Hello all, new here and super stoked to get started!

Caught this bug after seeing some Wingers on Lake Washington outside of Seattle, WA during one of our Summer Northerlies. Chewed on the idea for awhile then thought of how many times we've wanted to go SUPing and been shut out by the wind.

I'm currently in the no-mans land of waiting on a large GONG order not due to be released until the end of October: Hipe 5'3, Allvator Rise XL and Curve XL (for progression), 65 and 90cm aluminum masts, 4 & 6m Pulse Wings. Gong seemed like a good entry level choice to get kitted for an all-in go at this thing without hunting everywhere to build out used. I'm 80kg and 6'1.

Thanks to everyone here for all of your contributions to the Forum, I've spent several hours scouring this thing for information and ideas on getting started!

Found an outfit on Lake Washington for Wake-foil lessons so I could scratch the itch to get started. Heavy fog and also smoke from the CA/OR fires.

Man, you look smooth. Great that you got to learn with a teacher and in such smooth water. Well done, you’re on your way!
