Costa Rica opens up to some U.S. residents - Sep. 1
« on: August 19, 2020, 01:48:46 PM »
I like to check the Tamarindo cam at lunch.  The view went from packed-to-empty this past spring.  One of you mentioned here that they let people walk-surf-bike up to like 11 am (?) then send them home.  The waves, even tho' not all that much in this view, were certainly lonely.  In the early spring, I even saw a yellow F-1 inflato/foil working these breaks.

In the past few days, a local shop has stuck a banner in the view, so I sent them an email about 'when?'...  Here's the reply:

Hi Jim,

We are waiting on a part from the US to fix it.

CR opened the borders to certain countries on August 1st.

On September 1st they are starting to allow residents from NY, NJ, VN, CT, NH and MA enter a tourists. It is a small step in the right direction!

ticotimes.com has been posting daily updates in English about COVID and traveling.

....whattaya-bet, there is airline pressure to open a route to Liberia from the NY area? We (at BWI/Baltimore) used to have a direct in/out on Saturday.  Just perfect for a quick vacation turnaround.  The flight was like 5 hrs.  It was (would have been - as I have not done it) as easy as to go to the DR, PR ...and a helluva easier than my Nosara trip in the '80s or even Panama for that matter which mandated a Maimi connection.

' Doesn't look like it, but let's hope we can travel safely again soon.  Maybe I can make up for some of those times I thought I was too busy.
