Hello Dwight, thank you for your answer.
I also have Echos and i find them so much better compared last year model.
I was just curious about this new Unit.. handles never had a great appeal on me but i would like to try them on this new one.
I also want to know if they behave so much better behaviour in waves like someone said.
I still have rolling problems with my Echos.

Handles versus boom....weight versus more control.

Boom is more direct, easier, no thinking, more forceful pumping. But heavier than handles, unless you upgrade to carbon.

The Echo has more dihedral than the Unit. The dihedral is an advantage for me, going out through shore break. It keeps the wing tips high above breaking wave going out. Riding the waves and flagging from the handle its comparable to the best wings.

Where the big dihedral bothers me, is crashing and flailing in the water like a kook. There it acts like the old model. So not the best school wing because of that in my opinion.

Ordered my Duotone 6m Unit and should have it next week.  Can anyone tell me if the unit packs in a back pack like F-one?  Looking to use this as a travel wing primarily.  I know it has windows so might not be able to pack as small as F-One does, .

River, maybe you can chime in  here?

Thanks

Received my Duotone Unit 6m today so I can answer my own question.
The 6m is about 42" long in it's storage bag.  It is not a back pack but the bag does have  a handy side handle making it easy to carry.

More to come later

Hi Bill, they fold it up that size so not to crease the windows.

I was hoping it would fit in a back pack, but more like a duffle bag now. At least it will fir in overhead compartment once I start flying again.

A fellow in Maui I made some stuff for, commented on the Unit.

"Just tried the duotone unit surf kite Very nice kite three floppy handles that I thought I would not like, but they are quite functional. We have an early North  swell today, small but fun. Perf for foiling."

A great day today with perfect 6M conditions for my new Unit.  The wing is so stable.  I love it and this was only my second day.  I had the most jibe attempts ever but still failed to complete one.  One was sooo close but I over sheeted and stuck the tip in.  (it's a big wing) These light wind conditions correlate with a NE wind direction (040 or so) which also bring in man-o-war, called blue bottles (a type of jelly fish) in some areas.  At any rate they pack a heavy sting.  I saw a bunch but managed to weave between them and even my time in the water didn't end up in pain.  My pal saw a small shark.

We were out in the ocean today at Kanaha Park as today is barge day and I certainly never want to be that guy who falls in the harbor near a barge and shuts the area down for all.  If you come to Maui and want to wing the harbor, please pay attention to any movement along the pier where the tugs and barges unload.  They don't take long to get in or out, so just wait.  Those tug guys like a clear deck to operate in.

I'm looking to get some smaller wings for stronger winds and am interested in the Unit. Any more riders have reviews? I really like the ECHO but would prefer a non-boom wing for high winds. I weigh 245 lbs and worry about wing distortion under load, especially with a wing with a maximum PSI of 6. Prefer to not buy a wing that behaves like the F-One Swing, excpet for drfting of course. Looking for info on specific design characteristics aside from the usual marketing stuff...

I really like the stability of my Unit 6M and have completed three jibes on foil now.
