The crowds have died down. Kids are physically back in school which made a difference. Not sure about the weekend? I rarely ever go there on the weekend. Mid week, I'd say you're fine at 5:45 and get a premium spot. Sun doesn't come up till 6:45 ish. I surfed church yesterday morning alone. 3 hours all to myself and only saw two guys up towards middles. Water is cooling down a bit too (63 deg.). My car was the only one parked at the north end of SanO. No line, drove right in at 6:45 am, but the waves are 2' to waist high. Still fun.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Last week there were still lines, but this week after a Monday wind event (25+ mph), it seems that everyone stayed home the rest of the week...until today. I was already in a 10 o'clock with no line and plenty of parking, but at 2 o'clock a buddy paddled out, and said that there was once again a line at the top....not long he said (he rode is bike in anyway), but a line none the less.

I'm like TallDude, and usually leave the weekends for the crowds, but at the height of lines this summer, I'd occasionally head down at 5:45 if friends (w/o bikes) said they wanted to go...and I'd always get in, and get a spot at the south end no problem.
Me: 6'1"/185...(2) 5'1" Kings Foil/Wing Boards...7'10 Kings DW Board...9'6" Bob Pearson "Laird Noserider"...14' Lahui Kai "Manta"...8'0" WaveStorm if/when the proning urges still hit.
