Foil recommendations
« on: September 06, 2020, 07:58:53 PM »
I have access to Slingshot, Armstrong, Moses and F-One foils.

I have been using Slingshot foils (i76, 84 and 99) for wind foiling and I'm now getting more and more into wing foiling.

Would moving to Moses (1100, etc.), Armstrong (1850, etc.) or F-One (Phantom series) be an upgrade?

I do not foil in waves, only in small swells and at flat water locations.  I only have about six or so serious sessions wing foiling but have become addicted (a little more to the wing than the sail -- still love wind foiling).

Thanks for any help.

All carbon would be an upgrade in terms of weight and maintenance issues.  So much of the reported foiling experience is subjective that it is hard to say without trying how much you might like a particular foil.  I use Armstrong and am very pleased with it ( as are most Armstrong users as far as I can tell).  I have personally avoided Moses because of the sharp edges they had when I took a look couple of years ago.

I found this review of the Moses W1000 compared to the Phantom F-One 1480 foil.

Anyone have experience with the Moses W1000?

The problem with Moses right now, is they released a 1000 that does not fit the fuse everyone rides. You have to buy the kite fuse. A deal breaker for me, and part of the reason I abandoned them.

Yes, I hear you.  No doubt compatibility throughout the line is one of the reasons Armstrong foils are so popular here.

I've seen and heard wing specific fuses are on their way.

Makes sense to me in that I'm glad I didn't need to learn to surf foil on a kite foil setup.

If a good wing ding experience requires a fuse addon I'm ok with this as long as the tails fit.

And speaking of tails, WTF don't all tails have the same bolt pattern??  I'd buy 20-30 tail wings if they were interchangeable with all foil brands...
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

I'm thinking of purchasing these two products which would allow me to use both surf wings (1100) and kite wings (W1000 and W800) with the same setup (mast and fuselage).

My original goal was the same as yours,..overlap my Moses kite rig with my wing foiling rig.  Only problem was that I found other foil wings (Veloce XL/XXL) that I liked better for winging than my W1100 and 790. Really just comes down to personal preference. Mr Stringfellow just sent me a fuselage to adapt my Gong wings to my Moses 72/82 cm carbon masts, so I guess it sort of achieves the same goal. He is also the producer of those custom fuselages for MACkiteboarding you linked to, and an awesome resource if you need custom machine work done

(Gonna List my W1100 wing and full Pro XL rig for sale if anyone is interested)
