thats interesting about the titanium galling...way back when i rode dirt bikes and titanium axles first. came out they wouldn't sell the nut with the axle...you had to get a regular steel nut to use with the titanium axle...because the titanium nut would weld.itself to the axle and you'd be super SOL...at least with the steel.nut could be cut off with a hacksaw...

TefGel or other compounds will largely prevent the galling, it's why they exist. But still, if you torque the bits too much you can squeeze and scrape enough off to create problems, and it's never a permanent fix.

Most of what I know about Titanium comes from racing motorcycles. A poor choice of sport for a clumsy guy.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.
