Several folks have asked me how I make fake booms for wings with handles. Here's how.

Think you just salvaged my waning F1 interest Bill that looks like it will do the trick on my 6m as all I needed was +- 1/2 hand or 3” more aft on last handle yesterday to get my sweet spot and this will enable me to do so to enjoy the 6m F1 better I hope as I can see it has some nice light flying characteristics but the handles were not right for my liking hopefully next time around F1 will incorporate a more elongated rear handle a few more say 3-4” inches aft or add a handle!no reason not too go a bit more,I mean were  talking negligible weight addition. One thing I’m learning about wings as opposed to kiting is that it’s much more individualized fits like clothes or shoes one size does not fit all some wings and sizes fit better to each riders  ht weight style better unlike regular kites being 20m away from yourself the wings are much more a part of you due to its close proximity especially on pumping take off technique so one wing can be a lot of riders cats meow and to some riders it just plain don’t fit/work like surfboards sups etc. Thanks again Bill for sharing👍

I have often admired your setup there Bill and can see that some form of boomed wing will have to be in my future. Webbing handles are bringing on arthritis in mostly the 3rd and fourth fingers of both hands. What I noticed yesterday was that just hanging on to the LE handle while downwinding is at least as hard on my fingers as just sailing. Resisting the wing rolling side to side with one hand creates a strong twisting effect in my fingers. I suspect it's just our gusty conditions and our bodies blocking the airflow through the wing causing this as at least half the time the Naish flags out nicely.

Here's a pic of my temp solution. Helpful but this won't be adequate in the long run.

It is not my boom by the way, I am just a tourist. It is the half of a old windsurfing boom.
