OK, I 'll answer my own question. I found them in black at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32691890713.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.279f3c00tSJ8R4&mp=1

They used to be on a surf supply website, but now the just have the FCS handle with the built in gore-vent, and the old knuckle brass grinder handles. The Blue Planet handles are great, but you need something more compact for the bottom of the board. Plus you don't want to weaken the foil mount area. Thanks for finding those.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Even better would be the kind of handles SIC uses--a round dish with a bridge. My SIC manta foilboard has live2surf's style handle on the deck, but no bottom handle. I'm going to put one in.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

This is what I put in the bottom of my board and it looks just like what Naish now put in the bottom of their new foil boards.

I found a picture of the "round dish with a bridge" SUP handles that SIC uses. It is similar conceptually to the BluePlanet handle though much nicer looking and considerably more minimal.  That is a beautiful and sensible handle.

Now I wonder if those are for sale, haha. If not, I think I may try to make the SIC SUP handle part if I can find an appropriate oval 'dish' to use as a mold for vacuum bagging the dish portion of the part. Adding the top 'bridge' handle will be easy as a second step.

SIC Maui Custom service@dingkingmaui.com will sell their SUP handle for $25 but now (sadly) it is made from plastic not carbon fiber as shown in the picture above.
