Front wing size for different rider weights
« on: July 12, 2020, 06:46:31 AM »
In my reading I have come across many people saying that foil learners should get the biggest front wing possible for easier learning.  This makes total sense.
However, there is a huge difference between a 190 lb person and a 130 lb person.  Can the lighter person go with a smaller wing or is it just better to go with a big one?  This is for a light wind area.
Thanks.

Yes. 130 lbs person will learn on 1600-2000 cm/2 foils. Assuming the wind isn’t too light. 12-14 knots minimum.
Addicted to foiling at the moment.

I still think most adults should start with the biggest foil for learning.  Easier to get going and slower speeds for the beginner.  Also may allow use of a smaller hand wing which will be easier to handle.

Thanks for your ideas so far.
In pondering this, I am considering the Slingshot with the 84 Infinity and the Axis 102.

I’m 140lbs and have a 2200-ish Wing. The stability is what people told me to focus on. Also, you will end up with a buddy who learns after you and you can sell it to them.  ;)
