OBX in Sept. Woo hoo!

We just booked lodging at Kill Devil Hills for Sept 7 - 12 and I'm totally psyched.  I haven't surfed much recently and haven't caught good waves since January when I was in Cali.  (I know there's good waves in NC, but the 3-6 hour drive limits my ability to score) I hear Sept is good in the OBX so any tips or spot suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've taken many trips to the OBX but it's been a while. Kill Devils breaks crazy good I know, as does the rest of that magical strip of coast. Sept is prime hurricane season and chance are way good you'll score. Good hunting and you'll be stoked.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Zoo, that's awesome.

I will tell you this. In a few years I may have to spend significant time inland. And when I do I'll have a $1,000 craigslist inflatable outboard and I'll foil behind that thing in every river and lake I can find. Just sayin...

Yeah, that sounds really fun, cowboy.  I'm only a few hundred yards from a small lake that you are allowed to SUP on, but I haven't bothered.  We have a giant lake about an hour away and I've been thinking about figuring out some way to learn to foil there.  I have a couple of friends with boats who might pull me, so hmmmm....

Thanks cook.  I hope I can catch it solid, but not too big.  Not going much has left me a little weak in my surfing skills, so I'm hoping for waist to shoulder high.

This Oxbow ad has stuck in my mind b/c the NC surf looks so nice:

That part of the country is a mystery to me, but someday...
