Business name
« on: June 09, 2020, 11:37:02 AM »
Hey everyone. I need some help. I started a board repair business and I need help coming up with a name. Right now I just have it as Board fix but I am not 100% on it. I started doing repairs 2 years ago and now things are going great. In the last month I have repaired around 30 boards. Help me come up with a name.

Congrats on the active business!

How about  "Reform Board Repair"  it has both wave and repair/renewal connotations

It should probably

(i) reflect what you do and not be limiting (so Board Fix is a good start)

(ii) ideally be memorable, maybe because of alliteration or quirky-ness (like Maui's Ding King)

Or attaching an interesting surf term would help with it being memorable:

Board Fixation

Fun topic and fun job.  8)

There are so many fun beach and surf terms. I'm sure you will come up with something cool. Do you have a nickname? Now may be the only chance in your life to create your own legendary nickname. Now is your chance to figure our how you will get to answer your phone for the rest of this job.

e.g.
Wild Man's Board Fix - "Hey this is Wild Man, whats the problem?"
Howly's Board Fix  - "Howly here, what'd you break?"

or surf terms.

Cracked Egg Board Fix
Broken Nose Repairs
Reef Rash Repairs

Make paddleboarding great again!

Quick exam, you made me laugh with “Board Adored”.  It’s a good name in print but if you take the phone answering advice it’s pretty funny to try to say a couple of times. I laughed because of the “Rural Juror” gag on 30 Rock. Nearly impossible to say out loud and for some reason that cracks me up.

Similarly, avoid “therapist” in all modern names. In an email address Board Therapist, becomes “board, the rapist”.  Less appealing brand.

My marketing geek side always struggles with names. A business with a cleaver name or cool-looking logo can spend a small fortune making the name (or logo) mean something to potential customers. Or they can choose something mundane but descriptive. I assume your market budget is close to zip, so descriptive wins.

In personalized service who and what matters most...  Your name + Dingmaster. Clarity over cleverness.

For some reason I can not come up with a name. They all sound good but nothing is sticking. My other business were easy to come up with names. They took me no time at all.
