Anyone wing foiling in Maine/NH?
« on: May 31, 2020, 01:26:38 PM »
Back up in southern Maine for the summer ( Kittery Point).  Any wing foiling Zoners in  the area?  Looking forward to a few chilly sessions, although I am not sure this area is a wind magnet in the summer.

I grew up in Boston and learned to windsurf on Lake Winnipesaukee.  I think it is less than an hour from you.  There was a big sailing community.  We raced cats up there.  There are a lot of days that would be perfect for 5-6 meter winging with a big foil.  It is a big lake, a beautiful place and there is plenty there to keep the rest of the family happy :).  Picture the Ozarks but substitute every Zeke or Emmett with a Chad or Skip and you have it.

Hi Admin, good call. I have a friend in Alton Bay on the lake and I have SUPed there before.  I never consider lakes because I imagine swirling, difficult winds, but it may be an option , especially in the fall when winds kick in.

Lake Champlain in Vermont would be another amazing foiling venue I am sure

My local beach might work once it reopens, but like on much of the Maine coastline, there are a lot of rocks to watch out for.

I’m up in Hampden Maine and have been wing foiling on the Penobscot River and Bay as well as Pushaw Lake.  My board, foil and wing are all homemade but seem to work well.  I do get down to Popham Beach and Pine Point occasionally.  I’d be stoked to wing foil with you if you ever get up to these two places.

Hey Peter sound like a couple of good spots. I know the area but not the locations specially. I’ll send you a PM , maybe we can meet up although summer winds are pretty light.   I’d also be interested in hearing about your  home made gear...post some photos...

Carib, SUPeter - I'm up in Scarborough and paddle/surf Pine Point, Scarborough Beach, and Higgins quite a bit. If y'all ever get out this way, give me a shout. I'm just hearing about this wing foiling and would love to see it in action!

Sorry Board Stiff,  I just got this post.  Ill try to let you know if I'm down that way.  Seems to be so many good spots to wingfoil that I've been  up here most often with only just a recent trip to RI to buy and test some new wings.
