The case for a front footstrap - why anything else is holding you back!

I think a centered front hook would work, but *might* be a little better offset towards the heelside rail.  My front footstrap is at 45deg angle with the center of the strap on the center line

I'm thinking straps for the front and hook for the rear...

OHHH!  I really really like that idea.  that would make it super easy to shift around the back foot, but give a way to lock in when needed.  I'll say I'm not yet sold on a need to lock in the back foot, but Beasho certainly seems sure it is beneficial and there are loads of people riding with both straps, so I'm ready to learn that I'm missing something here.

As in climbing back on the board? I've a Blue Planet version waiting to be fitted, when I can be bothered, which hopefully shouldn't suffer too bad from that issue. Or I'll just mount from the side, using the wing as leverage...

I need to add a back strap for my wing board after my last session (or remove the front).  I was getting cocky after a few beers and went rocketing towards the shallow shoreline with probably 80 cm of my 85cm mast feeling the breeze.  Went for a nice swift gybe and the 1550's down wind wingtip slid up onto the surface and straight up power slid.  I went down back first while the board was sliding away and diving nose down and eventually catching the ground.  Front foot did not want to come out despite being veerry loosely set-up.  Felt some pressure on the front of my ankle that scared me for a split second but my foot came out just in time before the foil caught the bottom. Stood up in 10" deep water shaking my head and thanking my lucky stars.  The lift from the 5m wing slowing my fall definitely helped! Great way to end an 11 mile session. Coulda been bad on a few levels.

Normally this would have not happened in deeper water, as I lay into the carve harder, so if I fall, the board comes down with me.  Trying to gybe high and 'flat' caused this issue, where the board ended up going out and away with my foot stuck.  Always need to commit to your turns!
