Starboard - is carbon top worth the price?
« on: May 14, 2020, 10:47:22 PM »
Hi folks,

I'm thinking about getting a Starboard Generation. But I'm unsure in which contruction.
The cheaper "lite tech" or the more expensive "carbon top".
By weight, the carbon is ~800gr lighter, but also 800€ more expensive. 1€/gr.
But wouldt it be worth the price?
How are the advantages apart from weight reduction? Is the carbon top more durable?

I am pleased to hear your opinion.

Cheers
Andi

That’s a hard NO on all accounts imo. The carbon top wouldn’t do anything better for you other than burning a bigger hole in your pocket ;)

Third those comments.  Especially with Starboard. They charge the most for one of the worst carbon products.

It's a unanimous verdict.

There are times when carbon can be worth paying for, and there are times when it's little more than a marketing tool to separate you from your hard÷earned cash. This is the latter situation. The price difference is simply too high. Do Starboard use carbon fibre that is infused with gold leaf? Ridiculous.
