Google Travel - let us explore your SUP World
« on: April 26, 2020, 04:29:17 AM »
I have always explored areas where other SUPsters surf and paddle, by searching Google Maps.

Might be kinda cool now, when so many are locked out of the water, to explore where other Zoners enjoy SUP.

How to share your general location (see pic below, to see steps)
1 - Open Google Map
2 - Search the name of a town where you SUP.... or live
( I like to explore where SUPsters live, even if far from water, because I find every place interesting!)
3 - It will pop up in a panel on the left side of map
4 - click "share" under location heading
5 - a box will pop up with a shareable link
6 - click "Copy Link"
7 - "Paste" the link in your post reply
8 - When someone clicks your link, a map will open in a new window, showing where you SUP

Then we can explore the areas of Zoners from around the world.
It really helps connect us all
I have seen some very cool places doing this, and learned a lot!

Here's my location:
on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA (click the link to see a map of where I live)

Cool post Creek. I use google maps to explore vacation spots, work destinations, or just to explore where something is at. Me and the wife were watching some James Bond movies and the Grand Bazaar made an appearance. So I opened up Google Maps and took tour.

I'll try. We've been banned from the ocean for a long time but Monday we will be allowed to surf. And we got swell.

Creek:  You and I mostly SUP surf the same places.  But this is my primary flat water paddle spot, except when it freezes over in the Winter.  But I use it during the windy months (as it is protected).  Nicely divided into two attached but protected lakes

Hi Hail SUPin

Truth.... google maps is a great way to explore someplace that spurs your imagination, or you are curious about.

Your location has great memories for me!
I picked up my boat, in NJ in mid-winter and headed south.... Fernandina, Amelia Island , meant I made it to Florida!

Some other Zoners in your area as well  :)

Hi Tom... I clicked your link and got my location... not sure why.

NEsurfSUP
Nice little protected paddle spot. I used to live near there.

New Zoners or old ones.... link up, let us explore your SUP spot!!!!

I remember once checking out a beach where a Zoner lives in the UK..... turned out he surfed right under a classic British Open Golf Course!!!
Having always loved the Open... surfing there would be nothing short of amazing  :)

This has been my spot of choice for the past 10 years and is less than 15 minutes door to beach from my home. The surf is good and is also nice for a flatwater paddle. I love it at dawn when the sun rises over the hills and illuminates the windows of the Mumbles on the far side of the bay. The steelworks show the industrial side of the area but I've also been surprised to see seals and even a porpoise swim by!

Heres not just one of my go to surf spots, but also happens to be one of my favorite places on the planet, and I am lucky enough to live only a mile or two away.

I use this park year round, longboard Skate, Bike, Run, Camp, Explore the Proving grounds and lighthouse with my kids, go fishing/clamming its just the best.

My favorite place. Surfside Jetty Park at Surfside, Texas on the upper Texas coast.

I'm going to cheat with my reply with this message. I know Rick gave very good instructions, but I wanted some pictures of Surfside Jetty Park with some good waves. And I just couldn't get there with Rick's instuctions because of the details I ran into.

BTW, I just couldn't resist in so I went "overboard".  ;)

By the way, if you look at the left hand side of the screen, you'll see lots of pictures and you can scroll down "forever" (if you get my drift) and you'll see many other pictures not only of Surfside Jetty Park; but also of Surfside Beach.
