For anyone looking for the Dakine Maniac hooks, you can get one by ordering the “Dakine Maniac Retro Kit”. I got one from kiteboarding.com (https://kiteboarding.com/proddetail.asp?prod=dakine2016_maniac_retro_kit&cat=131), but the website says they are out now. But if you look around you should be able to find them, and they are quite cheap. I think I paid something like $10.
Infinity Blackfish 12’ 6” x 23”
ONE SUP Evo 12’ 6” x 24”
Infinity Whiplash 12' 6" x 24 1/2"
ONE SUP Evo 12’ 6” x 26”
Bark Competitor 12’ 6” x 29”
Red Paddle Explorer (Inflatable) 13' 2" x 30
Starboard Airline (Inflatable) 12’ 6” x 27

Refreshing this with a wind noob question.

Do the DAkine Chameleons come with a hook or do you buy that separately? The sites don’t seem to mention this.

From what I have seen it depends, for sale with and without hook.  Someone told me Dakine is getting out of harness making, if so then would guess the chameleons getting harder to find...I swapped out the included hook with a roller and much prefer the ease of adjusting the wing to match what the wind is doing.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

Thx guys. But even with this I’ll offer that none of us non wind guys know what the difference between a hook and a roller is lol.

I think the wind noobs guide to wing foiling is in my writing future for sure.

I’ll check that link!

Yeah I agree a lot of this stuff is super confusing.  Especially trying to go by jargon and photos which leave more questions than answers.

Going to a kite/windsurf shop where they have a wall of harnesses allows one to see the full gamut of what's available, and specifically feel the weight and flex of the different brands.

Basically a full kite harness is way overkill for me and heavy.  A belt or the v1 of the ozone is to flexy for me, I find the chameleon to be close, maybe a little less support could be good.  Hooks are very secure J shape, the roller is more L shape and the line comes out easier and "trims(?)" the wing with less resistance.

Personal preference plays a big factor and hard to know what one likes until trying a few...

Yeah, walking in a shop and playing with a harness is best.

The basic idea is avoid a super wide and rigid setup like this one. It won’t fold away when you smack the rail of your board.
