Thanks for the video. I've got a 5m duotone on the way. Do you recommend the wrist leash go to your front arm or back arm?

As someone who fabricated his own sliding spreader bar when I kitesurfed for a season, I like the one hand on the boom and feather the front of the wing with the leash action.
There is not really a front and back wrist, it depends on which way you are going.  I would say put it on the wrist that is in front of the tack you have a harder time on.

Thanks Rob.. Love the vids.. Looking forward to more.

My plan was to catch up with you in Hawaii next month but the Corona thing put a stop on that unfortunately.

Thank you DJ,
I'm looking forward to the day you can come visit us in Hawaii or I can go on another trip to Australia.  Global air travel is something we took for granted but now it looks like leisure travel may not happen for a while.  Hawaii could totally isolate itself from the rest of the world but only for so long since tourism is our number one industry.  There is no quick fix, unfortunately.

There is some backup to what Robert said about the effects of tourism, but there is a shiny nugget buried in this report.

I meant to share the second video with commentary from the four of us today but had trouble uplading the large file, so
I will post it next Saturday.
Instead, here is a video showing how I use a landboard to practice tacking (turning upwind through the wind) with a wing which has really helped me practice wing handling to apply on the water, I hope it's helpful.  I'm planning to post another wing foil tacking video with tips for on the water as well.

Nice Robert!  Land boarding helped me a lot for tacking, though I haven’t been willing to try any 360’s or backwinded riding that way. Seems like it would be too easy to take a spill in that odd position, but I would try it on beach sand.  Speaking of which you might want to consider a quick redo of that vid with a helmet if you’re gonna put it out there for training purposes. Or at least a bold print overlay on the vid recommending use of a helmet and pads. Just a thought from the peanut gallery......

Craig Stroetzel -- innovative windsurfing boardbuilder died of a fall while skatesailing in Annapolis in 1984.  There was almost no wind when he fell.  I remember this because it is one of the things that started me wearing helmets -- and I took a similar fall from a skateboard a few years ago right on the back of my head from hitting a rock.  Helmet got surface cracked, but my head was fine.

Yes, wearing a helmet on asphalt makes a lot of sense and I should be wearing one.

Thanks for everyone that joined the live premiere this morning.  If you have not watched it yet, this video with voiceover has a lot of good info and tips:

Enjoyed the video Robert.  You make that tack look easy.  Do you happen to know how much Jeff weights?  His 82 L board looked like the minimum he could knee start with.

Hi Phils,
Jeff weighs about 185 lbs.  Using the lift of the wing you can actually knee start on boards that don't quite float you as long as there is enough wind.
