First to FOIL MAVERICKS
« on: March 12, 2020, 07:46:09 AM »
Buoys were 11 feet at 14 seconds. Wind finally dropped. I paddled out at Sunset to Mavericks.

Was feeling confident then I got CLIPPED!!!!! That shaved my confidence back a bit.

Took an hour and then caught this FLAMING BAZOOKA. Foiled for 500 yards. OMG! OMG! OMG!

From the GoPro perspective anything that breaks the horizon is over my head ~ 6 feet. I am flying full tilt on a 2 foot mast. Call it the top 8 feet making the drop on what was minimum 15 foot face.

The last prone surfer was paddling in and I said "Hopefully I'll pass you on my way in." And I did.

Interesting reverse perspective - I enjoyed it.
Yeah, the wave didn't look that large but obviously it was
and it was a long ride.

Saw you pass the lone proner.

Was that the foil whistling?

That was beautiful.  I loved the 'contrail' you left behind.  Like, Subber I could not sense the size, but simply knowing where you hangout speaks for itself.

Is it the wing or tail that need a little filing? It's kinda like speedometer.  Were those 'lumps' - seals or kelp?  Good for you.

This is a 360 degree video.  You can MOVE THE SCREEN as it is Playing.

It only starts looking out to sea at the beginning.  You can turn the perspective at any time even when paused.

Look forward, backward, left, right, up down all in video mode.  This may not work on your phone but DOES WORK ON A COMPUTER.

Got it.  Was able to easily change the perspective on my laptop.
I just grabbed and turned it every which way, but now I see the
direction controller on the top left of the video
- that works too, even easier.

Very cool.

Holy hell...that is AMAZING!!! :o

What's next, we get to smell the sea air? Technology is mind-boggling nowadays.

EDIT: Oh my goodness, it even zooms in-n-out with a scroll of my fingers on my Mac pad...so, so cool. Mind officially blown...but I'm easily impressed.  :)

A few more waves at low tide.

Spring Flowers at Mavericks.  It was low tide and size didn't appear to be big enough but IT WAS BIG Enough.

I didn't have my small wing because I thought it would be below 10 feet.

Here was another wave.  My longest caught to date.

I paddled out and waited over the reef for 30 minutes.  I had concluded that the conditions were NOT right and started to paddle to the inside.  Then this set came.   I caught the wave in the lower corner.  It appeared to be a 15 foot whitecap that turned into an 18 foot face.  It was right over the boil and I wobbled right, hit the nose, wobbled left and then came out screaming.

In my mind I crashed several times but ended up making this a 600 yard ride past Mushroom rock well out towards Black hand reef.
