Special sharing waves with one of your oldest friends.
« on: January 04, 2020, 06:02:22 PM »
My friend and I have been friends for over 40 years. Our mom's use to drive us to the skateparks. We were even on the same skatepark team. Yesterday we had an epic surf session together and had the break all to ourselves. I'll put together a video, but I must of had 40+ waves (most OH) in 3 hours. I was toast.
In this picture we both realized we were about to get cleaned up. And we did:)

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

So nice. Love doing laps like that on an empty break.

God I need some of that glass. None of my old friends surf...we were city kids with no easy access. But I did surf last weekend in RI with my good friend Tim. Some decent waves but a lot of bumps and mixed up water so I was struggling out there but we got a few anyway. My head could only take an hour or so of the bumps so it was a short session.

I haven't touched the water in 2 weeks now. I caught a cold. It's been windy and cold. Haven't been any waves worth putting a wetsuit on for, and I was getting behind in my work. Well.... I'm caught up now, and it's raining:( Predicted surf...nada. I've been walking ::)

TD that sounds like an epic session and one that will sit in your memory for a long time. I look forward to the video.

Sorry I missed this first time around.... I was heading South.

Nice session TD.... and with an old friend, even better!
That's what we wait for, and what sticks with us!

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm so jealous of people with old friends ;-)

Growing up a Military Brat, I never really knew anyone more than 3 years. Even graduating high school here in Okinawa (DoDDS), everyone left after school...LOL

I can relate. San Clemente is a Marine Corp town. A lot of my high school friends lived on Camp Pendleton MCB. Just when we became friends their dad would get transferred. On the other side, a lot of my current friends are retired Marines who have stayed here. No Debbie Downer. It's really just a fluke that my friend and I are still living here doing the same thing.

Surfing w/old friends is the best. Glad to see you getting some of that.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
