Foiling Perfection
« on: January 27, 2020, 03:18:43 PM »
Fewer than 1 in 1,000 surfers will ever ride a minute long wave.  Probably fewer than 1 / 10,000 will ride a minute long wave and cover more than 500 yards.

This weekend EVERY WAVE WAS THIS GOOD.   It was FANTASTIC on the foil.  10 / 10.

8 Waves ridden covering 2.5 miles in 10.0 cumulative minutes.  Average 550 yards, longest 675 yards.  Average Speed 15.0 mph.

I eventually pulled out the Camera.  Hero8 stabilized.  Need to do something about the lens but WOW!

Beasho and Jeff Clark.  Catching 8 to 10 footers on the outside then flying free.

Buoys were 10 feet @ 16 seconds.  I was worried it was NOT going to be big enough to wrap into the bay but it was.  Typically it needs to be a solid 15 to 20 foot day to make this place work.

I was riding my 7' 4" converted L41 with Tuttle Box and Go Foil GL 210.

OOOOHHHHH Man, you're killing me.  I love that break and haven't been able to get there for a few months.  I'm so jealous.  I was down south last weekend and caught the swell.  Super fun walls at San O.  I tried to surf PB Point and got my ass kicked by the relentless barrage of 6-9 foot waves.  I managed to catch a few big ones but then would get caught inside and have to battle my way back out.  After an hour I was cooked.  Thanks for sharing and reminding me I need to get back up there.

What a ride!  Nicely done!  I can only hope the rivers open up soon to get rides long enough to cause severe lactic acid build-up.

' Good for you... The first-mover advantage, eh?  "Fewer than 1 in 1,000 surfers will ever ride a minute long wave." That is likely to change soon; unless, you were invisible to the 100 guys on the inside and 500 onshore doing a 'surf check'. You could even expect people on the highway thinking; "I could want to do that!"  Some young enterpriser with a ski and sled will end up selling Lift Tickets to solve Tarquins question.

Haha, one of my buddies texted me on Saturday morning from the cliffs overlooking that break - "I just saw a guy on a foil grab a wave at middles and ride it all the way to the beach!"

You better believe people are taking notice.  Luckily there is still a ton of room on the shoulder...
