I guess it's a good option for folks who'd like to get into the sport and have their base covered with one board. Not sure about the name though, Torpedo suggests something this board isn't, at least according to its designer.

The questions is, why are you looking at it Luc, are you saying you'd like to get rid of your 4 boards and get this one instead?

No four boards is about the right number :-)

I paddle with several friends that have some connection with Sunova including a sponsored rider and the local distributor so of course I get more interested in their boards as I have easier access to try them. Same with Blackfish paddles. To a certain extend and all things been equal,if I am spending my money, I might as well spend it locally and with people I spend time with. And of course I always look at new boards, if just for the fun of it....

LB, The first pic looks like they washed up at high tide and some lucky hikers (..' just happen to have paddles) found them.

The contrast is striking, how much effort Sunova has made to introduce new product and well they seem to be doing compared to the 'big' brands of a few years ago.

Ah,ah......this is us (I am in teh middle on the first one) on one of our launch point. When it gets around zero, we all bundle up :-)
Here many shops are either closing or are stopping carrying "race" boards. We have Starboard (not interested), ONE and Sunova available as the distributors are locals.
For now it is not a problem as I have plenty of boards but if I want to change board one day. I always look at demos or used boards and never at full price brand new ones.
I was also discussing whether there is enough market from the intermediate paddlers to sustain the sale of performance all around boards in the 25-27 width range.
This is how I got my Allwater 27" as a fast touring/downwind/all water comfort winter board.
Access and relationship become almost as important than the board providing it is a really good board.
I think that brands seems to realize that there are so many 24-20 width boards that are going to sell year over year. Nothing new....

Yes not a big fan of the name but I guess that Allround and Allwater were already taken....
I hope it does not mean that you can only downwind it with the nose underwater....
It is interesting that it was designed to get James Casey into the big waves of the Redbull monstertruck festival but might also end-up as a good all water board.
If I get a chance I will try a 27" wide one and see if it gets all the various elements of teh other boards into one nice package (tail from teh Allwater, nose deck from teh Around,....). I like the lower volume but still some volume (winter is colder than California and Florida).

Well the Torpedo name is taken as well, they have another surf model called Torpedo. And I sure hope they are not designed to go underwater... :D

It is interesting that it was designed to get James Casey into the big waves of the Redbull monstertruck festival but might also end-up as a good all water board.

As for going in the waves, just looking at the rails you can tell the board is not meant for that. If you need reassurance just watch the Video of James Casey "surfing" it. Making it lower volume and reducing tail volume was their way to make it suck less in the waves compared with the high volume race boards.

In other words, I see it as their version of your Maliko. That's a good thing, it's as a very useful board category to have.

I was thinking the same. And if it is as good as the Maliko, then I am very happy to have a backup board model soon to be in my backyard. just in case....

I will but doubt that it will be sooner than next spring. I do not think that there is a container coming yet. It might not even be available.
Norm is likley getting a 25.5 but I hope that the distributor also bring a 27". I am working to convince him that he needs one :-)
