That's called clearing the lineup. I think the shot is real, but it's from about ten years ago and it was in Northern Cali. I'm not sure, but it looks very familiar. What's not fake is that they are always there, and it doesn't change the risk level one decimal point whether you see one or not.

Hard to say due to the poor quality of the shot, but by all means it can be real...saw the same thing a little further south in front of SONGS last Friday while turning for the wave, and that was what was inside of it. Pretty cool for sure...made me miss the wave though, but the next one was just as fun. :D

That photo gives me total recall from my last trip to Maui...a fellow SUP surfer called out what appeared to be a very large Tiger in a Kanaha Beach Park cresting outside set wave...looked much like that picture, but farther out. Even though it was 100+ yards away, a couple of us decided it was a good time to come off the water. However, like Pono says - they are still there, whether we see them or not!

That looks like a blue shark, or perhaps a grey smoothhound. Of course, any shark spotted close to a lineup is automatically a Great White.

The story isn't as good if you weren't in mortal danger.

Salt Creek is a steep clean left and there are sharks in the ocean. Could be.

These signs were out this morning. :P

Get Hepa- B & C here folks. Don't worry about those sharks.
It's not overhead to me!
