Hunting for a Hudson River Downwinder
« on: October 12, 2012, 10:29:42 AM »
I'm on the lookout for conditions that will make a downwinder possible on the Hudson....probably all we need is a straight North or South sustained wind thats in the 20mph+ range....  Probably launch from somewhere in the Hudson Valley (peekskill or beacon or newburgh...)

crtraveler, the perfect conditions were... Today! We had 15-20 mph northerlies. I'm sitting in my classroom right now, 1/4 mile from the water, feeling blue. Darn these, all needing to learn and stuff!

If you're interested soon, send my a PM. (Do we already know each other?)

Hey Ichabod...we have not met yet..  I'm in Mahopac, not too far away though so I'm sure it won't be long....  Myself and SuprBowl are always paddling Lake Mahopac...let us know if you'd like to join us sometime soon.  Today had potential for the River but I think its a little too much W in the wind....

I would like to try Lake Mahopac. Is that one of the limited access lakes?

BTW, have you checked out the Hudson River Meetup Group?
