Foil SurfMachines
« on: November 21, 2019, 09:09:11 PM »
My newest foil amigo Josh has been foiling for ~ 6 month.

He started on a 7' 4" L41 using GoFoil Maliko 200.  He spent many, many sessions working the periphery of the power zone gently easing into the waves.

He was asking about shorter SUP foilboards and I recommended either: Easy Foiler, Jimmy Lewis, Kalama or DW's Foil SurfMachines.

I recommend these boards because they are among the few that have boxes that don't break.  (I have gone through 7 box failures - Not fun).

He ordered a 5' 11" from DW and was up and flying right away WITH A STRAP.  Really impressive transition to a short, short board.

Cool video

The story behind the name surf machines....

I had a buddy ask me to try my hand at building him a 7’8 short board SUP in my garage a long time ago. It was my first attempt. This was before anyone was making such boards. The guy ripped so hard on it, he tore the deck pad in half from slashing with his rear foot. He’s the guy in my avatar photo. The local crew nicknamed my buddy Surf Machine.  I needed a name for my boards, so it came to be.

regarding the tuttle box, I've had that thing tumbling in some BIG and HEAVY surf and never had a problem (knock on wood).  I agree that Dwight knows how to make boards sturdy.  And the shape is definitely sweet.  I'm still on the older generation before everyone figured out just how short we can go, but the rails and the tail works perfect.  I'll see you out there again soon Beasho.  Pacifica has been surfing so nice last few days, this morning was literally one of the best days I've seen in the last decade.
