Surf Park Long Island, NY

lotta wood to saw before this becomes a reality--and then there's the problem that their breakeven (with some distant amortization!) may be 25$ per wave!

has the kelly pool even opened to ordinary mortals yet??

Sounds like fun. 25 a wave sounds expensive although my equipment return on waves at the Rockaways may be about the same per great wave.

these guys are DOA once American Wave Machines gets theirs installed at American Dream in NJ.  If promised are kept- its supposed to be the biggest (capacity) wave made and indoors.

unless its a far better wave out in Shirley, American Dream will be tropically warm and much more accessible to a wider audience being in NJ.

25 bucks a wave??  anyone know how that compares to what Waco costs? Thats kinda the only measuring stick as the only one open to the public in the US right?

The underwater footage is great. The board appears alive. Very cool.

Last I read, the "Slater" machine cost $11,000 per day to operate, including staff. They rent somewhere near $50,000 per day.

Even at cost, how many waves does $11,000 buy someone?

Personally, even the idea of wave machines for surfers just seems silly.

anyone know number of waves per hr produced by the thing?

i seem to recall it's not a big number

whatever the case, these costs dont sum to ordinary mortals surfing these machines
