Good question...
Also good footage. Thanks for sharing it.
Really gives a sense of what they were contending with!

Thanks.

Yes there was a loop, didn't go as far in as depicted in the map, wish it did as there were some good waves especially at 10am.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

Not sure about the cause of the delay of the race, but Grant Washburn was happy once it started, as it would have sucked if they cancelled it.
I came back after the race and saw the prize ceremony.  None of the women did finish the race, but the top ~5 each received a purse of around $6000 if memory serves.  Mo Freitas buckled his Rogue board on his first wave in, but was still able to finish the race and finish in the top 5.  Saw the Sunova 2 piece board, and it looked strong and sleek.
They interviewed each of the top finishers on camera.  I asked the camera man about the live feed and he said they should be putting something up.  All of the racers seemed to be in good spirits.  I did not see Kai Lenny or Connor Baxter
I went out after the race, first on my gun, then on my sup gun.  My hat is off to all of the competitors.   I don't understand why the organizers would not want to share footage of the race.

Connor was there but did not finish the race. Kia was not there. no women finished the race. only 7 men finished. I was there shooting photos for app and for other companies. it was a crazy day. at ocean beach visibility was down to 100 yards. I will post a few photos. If you have been on any social media you have defiantly seen some of my photos.
