seems a nice video of a textbook dropin--guy woulda easily made the wave had you not taken the pocket in front of him

"i was technically on first" wouldnt win any arguments round my local--might inflame--and there'd defo be a "discussion"

now if it was party city, ok--but in isolation that was textbook

dorian was my best storm so far this fall--but i had work issues....

gotta be on call to catch the fleeting wind/swell windows

There is one exception to that rule.

From The Surfers Handbook  -  "If someone is up riding a wave, don’t attempt a late takeoff between the curl/whitewater and the surfer. If the surfer who’s riding the wave wants to make a cutback she’ll run right into you.  Doing that is also called backpaddling, and it’s just as bad as dropping in.

When you are on a SUP, you are always up first.
Give proners  a break. We could take every wave if we wanted

Curious what year was Surfer’s Handbook published?

With both SUP and prone, the point where you are up and riding the wave is when you stop paddling.

If we are catching waves outside of everyone else, we still need to wait our turn.

Dorian and Humberto were kinda tied here in NJ for me anyways. The remaining hurricane swells were all a no go for me since I blew out my shoulder after Humberto. NOT easy sittin' out the shank of wave season but not much I coulda done. Seeing an orthopedic surgeon soon.

The Dorian foto just showed in my inbox from a photographer that was shooting. That was one clean wall!

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"
