Dylan,

If you want to down size w/o beating yourself up (physically or mentally for that matter)
The Quatro Glide (in Reg & PRO construction) 8'10 X 34" 160 Liters. This board RIPS and it is easy to ride. You can even speed it up by putting on a good quad set of fins.
I've been really impressed with these boards. Stable Fast and loose.

Those Quatros look pretty nice. This is the 8'6 but you can visualize it as the 8'10.

Dimensions here

I'd stray from this one- its really more of a performance long board.  at 29 in wide you will really be struggling in chop even with the length.

Under 30in in width for any board is really a break point in stability.

Thanks again all. Will share what I get once its done! In the meantime I'll continue to enjoy the sled and work on my J stroke. For what its worth, the more I do it, the closer to the break i'm able to hang. Seems to only take 3-4 strokes to get up to speed to catch the wave. I'm very aware of when i've outpaced it and trying to eliminate that. These waves arent too steep either.

Hey all- quick update. I went with the white board pictured above (9x4.5x33= 162 Liters) and I love it! Yesterday was small and glassy but I was really comfortable with the downsize and could already tell how much easier it is to turn than the 205 liter. Here is a link to the board

Peace!

You're stoked. Good choice. I like the board shape and the chines on the bottom rail through the nose. Those help the nose drift down the face without catching.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.
