My new foil board SUPsurfmachine
« on: September 11, 2019, 05:16:01 PM »
So in learning to foil I have become so hooked even though my work situation at the moment is a major hinderance to learning quicker.  I have been riding foils behind boats this summer.  I can surf behind on a boat wake for about 5-15 seconds at the moment.  I have not had the opportunity to get out in the surf yet.  I have a starboard 4 in 1 hypernut  for when I get the chance to start surf foiling.  Dwight lives kinda down the street from me. Ok,  about 50 miles away.  I figured  a shorter board would be great  for behind the boat and when I get better in the surf.  Have heard great things about his board and they are true.  Board is strong and light.  I taught 4 other people to foil behind the boat on this board before I even got a chance to ride it.  The nose on this thing is awesome.  In watching the others boof the nose going up and down and into the wakes. It never caught to where the anyone did a nose dive unless it was a full on foil breach.  Even one person was able to save a full on breach one time with the boof nose.  I am 195lbs and can stand and balance on it.  Did not get a chance to paddle it though.  Have some wings on order and just got my 7m.  Looking forward to eventually playing with some wings with this thing.

Lots of fakers out there claiming Innegra construction when they just add some tape with a few strands of it mixed with something else. It’s a bitch to work with. It doesn’t cut with a razor blade.

That’s why you might not know what it looks like in pure form, 100% Innegra cloth. It is a white cloth, burlap looking. It does not wet out clear like fiberglass. It stays white. You cannot do art work on the blank. You would never see it because of the white cloth.

Had two innegra King Customs. White.

It will absorb as much resin as you put on and requires skill to work with.

There is a great podcast out there with some great comments from an Australian custom builder. Surefire..

Ed Angulo also shared some thoughts with me a while back.

Daum stopped using it as it added significant cost to the wholesale price. Vacuum bagging, hand holding et cetera et cetera.

Even without knowing the technical aspects, the aesthetics are cool.

@dwight
looks like a more shallow angled bottom bevel and thicker rails than what you made me a year and a half ago. Mine is ~25deg and this one looks more like ~15deg.  Any commentary on why the change?

I saw the writeup on your website about tail geometry and I like the look of the tail on this one, I have the old step tail you were doing back then.   I might just have to get another one...

Angles haven’t changed. Don’t know what you have without your real name and serial number. Too many to keep track.
