First ding - that's what happens when you teach yourself on a beach with littered with random debris rather than grass.  Spent about an hour before I noticed some wrinkles at tube/strut joint - pumped it up further ..much better.  I have to find a standard plunking noise to tune to.

With string kites, I pretty much got to the point where I did not have to watch the kite 95% of the time.  Perhaps because of that, I had the general feel of this in about an hour. The wing moved around a lot. Looking at a wind tracker it was jumpy from 9/20mph .. 10/18 .. 10/20.  Hand position varied from next-to-last to the last loop.  I like the ability to change the base angle by moving my hand fore/aft on the forward diagonal. This should be pretty easy (especially compared to string kites!) for anyone to learn.

Perhaps one of you can tell me: underhanded or overhanded on the front diagonal?  I seem more comfortable overhanded - which is my rear position.

The cart rear wheel bearings were rubber tubing which acted like brakes under pressure, so I didn't get the glide I hoped for, but I got a sniff of the potential.

Underhand feels more comfortable but somehow doesn't give as much power or control as overhand.

I think maybe that 'left-up' .. 'right/down' is too complicated for my slow processor. I guess I keep mentally referring to doing pull-ups.

I have abandoned my 'luggage' handles. They seem fine in light air, but in the heavy breeze, contracted under tension. I thought about spreaders on the backside, but DW's comment about being able to slide your hand along the entire length of the diagonal was spot on...  That diagonal handle is 16"/40cm versus 8"/20cm for the single, center handle.  You can change the base angle of incidence quite quickly and tune for power with the rear hand.

I still have another idea about the handles to try.

First ding. I thought 'beach debris', but not where it is located.  I suspect it snagged on a cart axle - my error for not anticipating.  Ozone supplies a really decent kit of repair goodies.  Basically, everything you need to do a field-fix on the cloth, bladder or connection between the strut and front tube, even the alcohol to prep the area and fancy bladder patch called TEAR-AID.  ...plus a 'bunch' of stickers and a bag to act as a sand anchor.

You will need to carry a flat-edged bit of plastic to level the adhesive.  One tip (they may have mentioned in the repair section of their website) put a bit of paper or plastic into-and-under the hole between the underside of the fabric and the air bladder so the ding tape does not grab onto the bladder ..and round the corners of the patch.

I’m so impressed with the wind this wing can handle. Good windsurfers were on 4.2-4.7s today.

Did my first down winder and car pickup.

What the F where these guys thinking shipping them without windows! I’m going to get killed...

Just today, as I often have to do...lift to wing to see where the windsurfers are so I don’t get hit. Then the channel markers....shit!

Holy crap I had the a similar windowless WTF moment.   Luckily there were only 2 other guys out and both were experienced foilers.  But dang the rock walls and land masses shure snuck up on me flying blind.

Plus+ 1000 for all wings having windows.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

Just for the record I switched from windows on my Slingwing to windowless on my F-One Swing 5 and am not having any issues without the windows, so if someone is reading this thread do not rule out wings without windows. The windows do add weight, which is why F-One said they did not include them.

My vision downwind is blocked but I ride the wing high a lot so I can then see everything. My vision in front of me and upwind is fine. I rely on the other water users not to head upwind and into me as even if they are windowless they can still see upwind fine as I can.

I would say once or twice in a 1.5 hour session I will raise the wing specifically for looking around, but most of the time it is not needed.

I suppose it depends on location too. If the water is crowded I could see windows being more helpful.

If I could get a window without sacrificing weight or anything else I would take it, but if I get better performance with no window because of the lighter weight I would go with the performance, which is what some manufacturers are doing. Not having a window is not a deal killer for me.

Admin, why doesn’t my image show?

Image is two pieces of foam. The lower one, the all crushed and terrible looking one is from my Ozone. My most used handle, became a wrinkled uncomfortable piece of webbing real quick with that foam inside it.

The upper piece shown, was taken from my Gong handle. Lots of spare handles on the Gong. So I stole it and inserted it into my Ozone handle.

I thought Kai Lenny tested this wing  >:(. Maybe they should have sent the prototypes to me

Hi Dwight,

If you grab the embed code and find the image name you can link to that.  The full embed code is pasted below and the part that you want is https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48777961491_c5533e72e7_z.jpg .  Flickr does ask that you link back to your photostream.

The Gong handle core material is a 1 mm plastic strip, wrapped with 2mm PSA backed EVA. Gong handles are great.

Funny thing about windows, everyone seems to have a different take on something so simple. My Duotone wings have windows and I rarely use them. When I want to see where I'm going I get the wing either up high for upwind and reaches, or down low for downwind. Julie Schreyer thinks I'm nuts to say that, she uses hers constantly. I guess it's just what you get comfortable with.

I like how nice the wings without the window packs down. I can fit probly 4-5 F1 or ozone's in the SS bag. Plus I wonder what the life expectancy of the window will be.

That's a point, FLK...  I think of clear plastic dodger windows in a sailboat, but they're stretched tight in a frame - not packed away each afternoon.*  Maybe some of that semi-clear composite with the internal strands you see in sailboard sails?
