Soloshot- Groveling at Frisco, Outer Banks 8/10/19
« on: August 10, 2019, 04:32:46 PM »
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we had head high clean waves on the east facing beaches. Today a north wind lumped up our swell and sent us down to Frisco. We call it the "Frisco Disco" as you drive up and down the beach looking for a descent wave... it always looks better up the beach.

Any wave one can ride is always a good wave no matter how small the wave. That's my motto.

Thanks for sharing the video.

Looks a notch or two above groveling to me! Nicely done, jarvi. We've had it muy bueno here in NJ on the 8th, 9th, and 10th. Long period south swell w/local wind swells mixed in is perfect here. Breaks up the long lines from the 16 sec swells.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Yes, Cookie, we had a good swell the prior few days as well. Here's my wife the day prior to the video. Unfortunately, we were't surfing at a "drive on" beach during the good swell, so we didn't carry the Soloshot on the long walk out and over the dunes.

Nice! I bet that cool water feels good. We're currently at "bathwater" status here. No relief from the heat, whatsoever!

Thanks Boys,
That wave is weaker than it looks, and "juiceless" but can be fun. That 8' board I'm riding has a very flat rocker line, and the Riptide fins help speed it up even more. We've had onshore winds the last couple of days down here, so I've been working around the house and shop.

nice waves by me in western RI Fri, with leftovers Sat--nothing incredible, tho given recent dearth of waves, it was overdue, and redeeming fun

did a sprint marathon cold (zero training) sunday morning---a great workout but humbling--i rocked the bike bc i commute almost 2 hrs per day on a 65 lb share bike---swimming?? shoulders no happy, but ok---running?? limping today with hip pain which pisses me off

chix dig the numbers on my arm and calf----til they see the times!!!! haha

woops i digress---nice to see a couple days of waves in the northeast---cmon storm season
