I think the "jury is still going to be out deliberating" on these gloves.

When I was kayaking for 12 years and had to paddle a long distance of 5 miles (one way) or more to get to my saltwater fishing spots, since I didn't want blisters, I wore a pair of "weightlifters gloves" with exposed fingers. Never got a blister with these types of gloves and they fit my hands perfectly.

I have been paddling offshore to fish and got a pair of neoprene (the slightly spongier type) gloves partly as an emergency back up - they are the webbed swimming gloves that make prone paddling much more effective. They are more comfortable than I expected and I will use them full time when it cools off. When I did a lot of kayaking (for a few decades), I only wore gloves if it was cold. I don't know if it is tough skin or how I grip/use paddles but I have never had trouble with blistering or slipping. I often paddle several hours a day.

pdx, I could definitely see how it would work with your aesthetics if you get it in a metallic finish.

Just ordered the Mario Batali bistro model in orange, but having a hard time checking out.  Would have ordered the Trump version, but they only come in extra small...
