I see the shoulder is getting better~!  Waves looked perfect. So jealous. Caught some decent ones this week, but nothing like those smooth breaking swells.

Looks like your paddle got 'covered' at ~2:15.   I like the way you use it as a long-arm stabilizer. We have guys here that may as well throw them away; they carry them.  Good one.

So jealous.
I always said never deny another surfer jealousy. It's an important part of the puzzle.

Happy your back in action.
Thanx LBsup. Is that a Long Beach thing in your user name? I love surfing there! Shoulder feels kinda ok...ain't what it used to be!

Funny, when I first learned to sup surf I would do alot of that holdin' the paddle with one hand thing. Takes a while to learn how to use a paddle proper. That Kialo Methane is like an extension of my soul! Amazing how a good paddle makes a big difference.
Your comment made me think of my video titled ''South Swell Sweeping'' where I really saw how my paddle wasn't be used and just held one-handed while I surfed the sup. That was b4 I was on forum here, back in Spring 2013. 9'3'' Isle Performance shape. That board worked really well. Always wanted to post a new topic w/that board.

Check out the quad long board at the 05:55 mark. Best PA backyard board that I ever had. Built by a friend of mine and sold to me.

Ya, there was 'Marc the Drum Major' ...then you almost did a perfect missile strike on that guy paddling out.  That wave looks waaay cold but held up for you.  Good one.

You mention the Methane.  I've tried a bunch after thinking the Methane oval shaft was too weak after breaking one ...much too easily I thought. After that, I could not find a comfortable handle. Some had my wrist too far forward. One t-top was not centered. The cuppy-things were sorta Ok... so I bought another T-Methane. (and fixed the first one)

The Methane was my first paddle. A year or two later I went to the Pipes. The smaller blade really improved my surfing. When I got my Sunova paddle the difference was like night and day. It moved much more smoothly through the water. No more Kialoa wobble. The Sunova is still the best paddle I've ever used.

lol...Drum Major...never thought of that and it's so spot on. That near missile strike was sketch and that day was really fun.

The Methane was my first paddle.  later Pipes. The Sunova is still the best paddle I've ever used.
Interesting paddle progression. You have my attention!

I don't know who Sunova got to design their paddles but they are as near to perfect as I can imagine. The blade is very thin compared to the Kialoas. I think that is one reason why they work better. Whenever I go back to my Kialoa, the wobble is obvious.

See if Rick the Creek can get you a Sunova.   :)

I'm using the Silver Wave model (fixed). Only US$269.00 on the website.

Owner at South End Surf and Paddle (Ken Brah) where I do surf and uke lessons hooked me w/a nice paddle.  No elliptical shaft or T handle but the price was right (free!). Will miss the old Methane. The Carbonerro PRO SERIES 85 is a bit larger of a blade than I would prefer but like I mentioned, price was right. He said they were the only size he brought in. I cut it down to 70".
New to me-

The Carbonero 85 looks nice. After using the big Methane, the smaller blade should be a noticeable improvement. The 75 might have been preferable but at least you're downsizing.

My blade was supposedly 82 sq in depending on how you measure it. It felt big so I cut 3/4 of an inch off the bottom of the blade and now it's better. The tip of the blade is solid carbon so it was easy.
