sunblock that doesn't melt on your face
« on: July 03, 2019, 03:45:37 PM »
Any body have any advice for a sunblock that doesn't melt and get into your eyes? Makes the beginning of my sessions really painful.

Same problem here. Curious to hear other suggestions. I've been using Safeway's generic version of Neutrogena's "dry touch" sun block, which works better than most and doesn't leave my hands slippery:

The zinc stuff like Headhunter Face Stick stays out of my eyes and lasts forever, but gets on clothes and everything else.

Oh wow, I remember that pain, stinging eyes is sucky way to start a session.

I currently use Everybody Loves the Sunshine with Zinc by Living Libations:
https://www.livinglibations.com/us/everybody-loves-the-sunshine-with-zinc-beach-balm
Never had any issues with stinging eyes.  Made of some good stuff, will liquefy if left in the sun or exposed in a hot vehicle, and then solidify when it cools.  I like the beach balm, easier to apply without getting my hands oily.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

+1 on Neutrogena's "dry touch" , the product works great, stays on for hours.

Sean,  After years of staring at the Sun while kiting and hours of exposure, I simply had to find something that was verified is actually did what it says.  Take a look at the lack of regulations the U.S. puts on this stuff and it mimics the mumbo-jumbo, fast-talking supplement industry centered in Utah.

It turns out, on the 4th of July, Australia actually cares more about their people than lobbyists and political benefactors our folks do; they actually have to meet minimum standards printed on their packaging.  We do not.

I switch back/forth ...the Sun Sense is a little spooky because unlike BL, there's no visible Zinc ..no kabuki masking.  But, I use it on eyelids, ears, etc. and never get that alcohol flashback like with most US stuff.  And - no more burning, as I'd get with 'Banana Boat' and those other heavily marked products.

I'd buy US-made - if they got OZ certification.

I only surf with face sticks, not sure if you’re getting wet or not. Currently using headhunter. Tinted makes for less “ghost” look.

But any face stick is better than lotion. Even the pharmacy brands are good enough.

Anyone know the difference between Blue Lizard Kids and Sensitive versions? Bottles make it look like kids will last twice as long.
