Paddling Foil Sup
« on: June 27, 2019, 07:38:59 AM »
Got the Blue Planet 7' 6" foil board for Wing Surfing. Is it worth trying to paddle it with a tuttle fin to get an idea of balance? Or better to paddle with foil?  Different stance then Wing Surfing so is it a waste of time to paddle at all? Will never be paddle foiling with this board only Wing Surfing.

Your rear foot will more than likely be in front of the mast of the foil while you foil and gain speed. Depending on the wing size and wind you might start with foot above the mast to get lift. The foil will give that board a ton of balance also, more than a fin would. You might want to paddle it so if the wind drops, you can be comfortable paddling it in.

A. Never say never.
2. Paddle it around with the foil in. That's what you're going to want to feel the balance of. The action of a any SUP board with mast and wing attached is VERY different from a board with a fin. So much so that when you get used to it any surfboard--even something big and wide--will feel very tippy and hard to stand on. It's not really a difference in stability, it's a difference in how it moves. It's not worth describing the feeling, you'll see.

I never tried the wing thing.
I would paddle and get the feel of the board and foil on the flat and if you can surf or get boat tow.
If your a foil kite or wind sailer your on your way.
