The article said (which I figured) that the alligators can't really survive long in the salt, maybe a few days. Except if you live in Australia with those damn salties. Those things scare me more than sharks.

Those are crocs; salt water crocodiles are a thing. Crocs also tend to be more dangerous to people.

snake is surfspeak for a surfer who drops later than another surfer, but has technical right of way based on proximity to the peak

a snake may also paddle around another surfer who is in position and paddling in--so that the snake suddenly appears behind the surfer who took the drop initially

classic is for longboarders to always feel snaked--ha!

snaking requires decent late-drop skills, as well as ability to drop into an already broken wave
