Naish Javelin 14' x 26" LE 2014
« on: May 25, 2019, 09:23:10 PM »
I could not resist one of these demoed a couple of time for CAD 1,560 taxes included from my favourite SUP shop.
I won't have it until July when a friend will drive it to where I live.
Should complement my downwind  champion Naish Maliko for the flat and windless days where the 22 lbs. should feel nice.

Congratulations- the best looking of all the Javelins, IMO. Very fast downwind too, if you have the skill.

Thank you. I am more modestly planning to use it for flat and very light days, while using my workhorse Maliko for anything else.
I used to have the white Javelin 2011. A handful but great construction.
I was really looking at a SIC RS so I could have both flat water and touring in one board but I needed to pre-order and it was CAD 4,032. I was also looking at the 2019 Sunova Allround (sunken deck, lower rocker, concave bottom) but CAD 4,368.
None of these prices make sense to me. So a "new" board full carbon for $1.5K from a brand I like.....easy choice. So with the Maliko that I purchased one season used, I have two excellent boards for less than one brand new board. Worth revising my aspirations.

I got my first downwind with the Javelin. 25 knots with a good portion in big messy bumps.
I bought this board for flat water to complement my Maliko but I was totally surprised by how nicely it can downwind.
I had a blast - fast and super responsive. It just gets blown into the bumps at a very good speed.
It might be a 2014 design, but I will take it against many newer boards I have paddled.
That's two Naish boards and two keepers....

Noting like a new acquisition to generate some excitement. And July is not that far off.

A friend of mine was giving a talk at the shop from where I got it from and brought it back to me. No need to wait until July. I had it since last Tuesday :-)
