Never heard of him, but I'm going to guess he had a seizure or a heart attack.

incredibly sad.  Young guy too.

Agree with Eastie.  Carbon Focus Board set up as a quad.  Looks smaller than 8 foot.  guy must have been a decent surfer on that set up.

TikiMon was a friend of mine. Talented musician, artist, photographer, surf, and sup brother.

Well loved and respected member of the CC tribe.

God bless and Godspeed my friend..😥

Sounds like it wasn't surf related. They found him floating in the waters and reached him via boats. Doing what he loved.. RIP
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Echoing Big, David was indeed part of the tribe.

His skill at surfing was definitely sufficient for yesterday’s conditions.

The lack of local internet traffic does not equate to the conversations circling around among “us”.

As someone who was in the water at the same time, just down the road at Coast Guard, I’m having a tough time processing the loss vs. the fact that it was a great day of surf.  I’m sure Dave would have agreed.

What a great guy....always upbeat....kind of a devil smile always...like he had something else going on
Very much a character...and in  good shape ...worked at a local  Mountain/outdoor  store.

I surfed with him on Saturday, he later took pics of another surfer.
Saturday was slightly bigger, only maybe chest, but real drainy, and i almost got knocked-the-fck out on a late drop.

He was just in Maui like a week ago, so maybe he had a pulmonary embolism, or a concussion or pulled a Biggie , but it was all surf related.

The hardest part is that that beach always has people watching from the cliff,  He went in when the rest of the surf crowd went home,....but somebody had to have seen him go in, and if there had just been one wetsuit /water person in the parking lot maybe things could have been different, but it got called in, and  the authorities sent boats which took forever.....he was recovered like 400 yards offshore ....and was floating alone for too long.

This is hard....we already circled the wagons after the shark thing last year, and this was a fun time as things warm up, but shit... the Dude was a solid citizen .....carved Tiki, played mean rockabilly guitar

This is a hard.....and a real reminder of how precious it all is.
Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps

Dave was a super sweet man with a great smile and happy outlook on life.
He had just returned from a surf trip to Maui and was probably having a great session when this medical event happened.

Dave was living life right and will be sorely missed by our large and connected SUP crew.... as well as the live music fans.

He was a very good SUP surfer who handled much bigger conditions with ease.

ALL of the SUP crew was texting, driving, checking on each other while this was unfolding.
Calls were going out and coming in.... "Ok, glad you answered, do you know who it could be?"
Very tight group... and Dave was right in the middle of it.

This really sucks, but he was out on a sunny day, light offshores and nice 2-3' swell, so he was happy right till the end.

I took this pic just before my session that that day.

In honor of Dave's passion for surf, and our own, it would be nice to have a paddle board paddle out.

Whether big or small, let's get it done before the sharks come knock'n.
