PFD Hydration combo
« on: April 20, 2019, 05:07:18 AM »
Hi All, my paddles are getting longer... I need a comfortable PFD with a built in hydration bladder.  Anyone have a good recommendation or a hack?

Thanks,
DAB

I’m wondering, too.

I use a Kokatat Orbit Tour PFD (https://kokatat.com/product/orbit-tour-pfd-lvuobt) and then a Dakine Waterman Hydration Pack (https://www.amazon.com/DAKINE-Waterman-Hydration-Pack-Reservoir/dp/B07CK4P7C1) on top of my PFD. They aren’t meant to go together, but I find they work really well together. Don’t even notice the hydration pack.

Seems like the surfski companies have better options for PDFs

I have not tried these, but they seem much better designed

I just use a standard waist PFD and a Modelo in a can in my board short pocket ::)

Of course you could substitute a RedBull in lieu of the beer.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I don't use.

Been using the Vaikobi PFD for few years now. very low profile and with Back pocket for Hydration (up to 3 Liter)
Very light and highly adjustable. Pockets are useful but for light use, otherwise wear and tear is quick.

Just ordered the V3 so hopefully they improved that weak point.
in progress...

I use a waist hydration pack when I’m wearing a full PFD. I kind of like a back hydration pack better, so in that case I will wear a waist PFD. It looks dorky, like I have too much stuff on. Not that that ever made a difference to me.

I have been using the Moke one for years. Big pockets and work really good. No wear and tear to see. not the most elegant but what pfd is.
