Maui foil spots
« on: April 04, 2019, 05:59:42 PM »
Hi all. Will be in Maui next week mid April for a few days and looking for some spots to  go sup foil please. My wife who’s compentant on her sup will be with me too. We’ve been enjoying Waikiki but waves have been small here so far. Thanks all.

Ja'a is the standard north shore foil spot. Decent to SUP surf as well. We're into April so North Shore swell isn't quite as good as winter, but next week is 2-3 all week--which is generally ok for foil--although the wind is supposed to be up a bit. Kahului harbor can be good too if Ka'a gets blown out. Nothing much on the South side. Thousand peaks and Guardrails are good on the west side, and if it doesn't get blown out, S-turns is good.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Ka'a was awesome today. It's actually Ka'a Point, and it can be tricky to find. Driving from Kahana towards the Harbor you pass over and aqueduct and see two entrances on your right. Go past the first one and the second one leads into a farily large unpaved parking lot. If the surf is good and the wind is light the lot will be pretty full, but you can always find a spot. On a good day you'll see 40 foilers out. the reef is pretty far out, but if you catch a wave on the reef and know how to stay in the energy and turn without losing speed you can ride all the way back to the beach--and then paddle all the way back out again.

Appreciate the local knowledge.
