Few sliders before work_4-4-19
« on: April 04, 2019, 05:05:15 PM »
Soloshot is working automatic!  Mushy morning me sluggish but nice colors!  Got in at 6am, days are getting longer, maybe soloshot needs a flash for surfing in the dark?

beautiful light for some smooth wave ridin'. Jealous. I looked at the surf-cam and the waves looked just like those. To bad I looked at it just before going to work...

Sweet sunrise sesh. Cool how the vid started out in almost total darkness. Now I really am experiencing armchair sup surfing!
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Nice! The older I get, the harder dawn patrol is....but usually so worth it once you're out there.

Your time stamp says California (LB=Long Beach?). How is the sun coming up over the ocean? :-)

props to you oki--i have no issue with the early hour--but i am a coward about being out stone alone in the water--my wife forbids it, so i have that out, but i really do prefer a few folk around in the water--not that they'd be able to help me were i to need help

might be worthy of a thread--like how many of us are cool being totally alone surfing

jealous--zippo waves round here for a while--maybe this weekend, finally, but i gotta move my office---pain!!

Thanks for the nice comments.

Oki, I’m not sure where the CA reference is?  LB stands for Long Branch the town I live in NJ.
I’ve always been an early riser so dawn patrols are easy.  Also, the closest break is only 1/2 mile away so even in winter I’ll suit up before leaving the house and jump back in the car with the suit to come home.  As the days get longer 2hr surf sessions are common before 7am.

EB- I always surf alone and have gotten so used to it I always paddle away if guys paddle to where I am.  My wife understands I need this and always gives me the green light.  We’ll be married 28 years in June, she’s gotten used to it. Lol

Sweet vid Ken, looking smooth and fluid!
Solo sessions are easier to find before sunrise  ;D

I surf alone all the time,
It's very peaceful to paddle out to an empty lineup and enjoy the pic of the litter.
My Flat-water paddles are solo almost 100% of the time.

Hey LB, your stance looked much better on that session. You were skating right along on some of those.

Surfing alone at a good break is a luxury that we don't get very often in NH. Dawn patrol is usually the best time to find it. If you are lucky, you might get an hour to yourself before the crowd starts showing up. You can surf alone all you want off the beach but all the good spots fill up pretty quick after sunrise.

This is my favorite spot. Click to enlarge.

Hey Badger, that pic is so nice!  I gotta get further up northeast one of these days, I really like the landscape.

For some reason, it "looked California," but the sun was on the wrong side, so I looked at your profile, and the time showed west coast ;-)
