FM  - In Seattle there are three excellent non - commercial stations... as in no commercials ... I like never knowing what you might hear next. But I love it if, when I travel, the rental car has SeriusXM...

Audible books. Yeah, geek. I haven't heard any music worthy of real attention since 1980. Current rock is sad jingles. I did, however, just watch "Across the Universe" on Netflix. That was fun. Would have been better if the lead actor had a better voice, but still good.

When driving alone:  silence, audible books, or iPod, due to ability to shatter windows:

Thanks, I enjoyed the Demobs. Very 90's sounding. Reminds me of Blur.

Rock is still dead though.

Old school FM. Preferably college radio, a local basque station EITB, or surfFM out of Hossegor.  Commercials are either low key or non existent on these and I will hear mostly good music that is totally new to me.

Or a national French talk radio, France Inter, which could be compared to NPR.
On it I learned of the background to a current, and for me, terribly annoying new way of speaking, the voice fry.

What I like about terrestrial radio (whether radio signal or streaming) is that I don't have to get involved in the "playlist" and can focus on whatever it is that I'm doing.  Local radio is also still a pretty good source for local happenings.

...and YouTube is killer because you can cheat in learning the riffs.  These guys are very talented.

Thanks for the Demob. I was just complaining that there aren't any 3 man rock bands any more (that I know of). I've always been a fan of Cream, James Gang, ZZ Top, Police, etc

TD,  You didn't provide: 'None of the above'...   I cannot hear music correctly, for the most part, so much is simply annoying, repetitive.   Besides, after Merry Claytons 'Gimme Shelter', it was all downhill.

More importantly, FM and soon broadcast TV are dead to me because of podcasts.  Rightwing/Leftwing, Medical, History, Space... I want to learn real information from the source, not networks that re-package and massage information for advertisers seeking targeted demographics.  I do not need a cure for Peyronie's disease!

I've been ignoring the media news for over twenty years now. Nothing ever happens on the news that is in any way useful. All that violence, negativity and general insanity they report on is unhealthy to watch.

It's a good thing you've straightened that out.  ;)
It takes a quiver to do that.

Well, if you've been ignoring it, you probably aren't aware that recently it's all turned around totally.  All the stories are positive, and everyone involved stays civil and polite.  Nothing like a few years ago.  Most of the fact-checking bureaus have shut down, too.  They just ran out of things to do, since reporting has become so accurate.

I only listen to FM radio when I travel. It is interesting to hear what is going on in other places. Just another way to get a small slice of the culture.

There is still good rock music. Mainstream not so much but there is a lot of listenable stuff out there depending on your tastes. These guys typically play with 2 but every now and then 3 or 4 members.

Alt J only has 3 members in it, not sure what classifies as rock anymore though.

Dinosaur Jr is still going.

Make paddleboarding great again!

Learning riffs from You Tube isn't cheating, it's an great resource for that, saves so much time.
