Heading to Hawaii for the first time. Need advice
« on: February 26, 2019, 09:31:22 PM »
I have a meeting in Honalulu on the 14th of March. I’m going to fly with my Kalama and I’m looking for advice on where to foil. I’m not sure if I should I stay on Oahu or fly to Maui. I’d like to drop in and say hi to the boys at Blue Planet. I owe them a beer for teaching me so much. I’m not asking you to name spots, just looking for the best bang for the buck island wise.

Thanks
Evan

how many days you have? If short dont waste time interisland IMO.
plenty of places to foil Oahu: surely Robert will clue you in!

Yup. ^^That. Or get in touch with Sam Pae. He hasn't been on the zone much lately, but he's on Facebook. We're going to have some swell but there's a lot of wind in the forecast. Oahu has less wind generally. Neither Oahu nor Maui are getting any significant south swell (where you're be in the wind shadow) until March 9. It's been a very weird winter. Every time we have a big swell we have big wind. Every time we have no wind it's flat.

Maui is foil mecca, but there are tons of Oahu options. Robert will clue you in on the 'secret' spots if you ask, but at the very least white plains is pretty much foilable 365 days a year, just paddle wide of the crowds in either direction. I've been out every day this week.

This is the spot. It's south of Public's.... Robert will show you the spot.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Thanks everyone. I’ll be there for 7 days so I think I have enough time to hop over to Maui if the conditions warrant the trip. Are all the airlines pretty dialed in regards to transporting a SUP?  Mine is only 6’ so it shouldn’t be too hard.
