« on: February 25, 2019, 08:00:38 AM »
Hi peeps
Just looking into building a new board again,
I was thinking of making somthing like the Sunova speed 9'5"
The question i have for anyone who knows,
What the rocker dimensions are of the speed ?
Thanks for your help

Wow Biggreen, can that be right?  The tail seems reasonable, but that nose dim seems heavy.  Is it a staged rocker or continuous?

It has to be. It's a dedicated steep beach break board. Of course, depending on the length. For a 9'4 board designed for steep/ fast waves 6" maybe 6-1/2" in the nose to 3" to 3-3/8".  6" to 3" could make it faster depending on how you stage your rocker. Sometimes the sharp pointed nose with a little flip will throw the nose rocker dims off. Just remember too much and it'll be a dog.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Yes i know. Especially with the nose rocker pushing water, i might go 6" with a lowish volume so she's flat in the water at the nose, maybe 2 1/2" tail.
Thanks for all the input.

TD, I thought the Icon had heavy nose rocker, but it definitely worked well here in east coast beach break.

It definitely has a flip in the nose, but it's pretty flat throughout with a lower tail rocker. It holds it's speed and works on late takeoffs because of the flip in the nose, but you got to get back on the tail to make a hard turn.

Yeah, I don’t own one, these were just some specs posted when the boards first came out. I’m sure TD is right and it’s flip in the nose that makes that nose rocker seem so great. It was 8-5 speeed 6 1/8” 9-5 speed 7 1/8” respectively in the nose.

Hi folks
Went with a staged rocker in the end with a slow curve through the centre then 5 1/2" nose and 3" tail kick.
Tried it out today paddles really well.
Very happy with it.
Thanks for all your input.

Very cool Scuba, your board has go-to written all over it!  Looking forward to hearing how she surfs.

Thanks guys
Took her out for a grovel today knee high, catches wave easy and turns nicely, on the smaller stuff. :)
