Owl Hunting In the Reserve
« on: January 29, 2019, 08:04:43 AM »
First hike into our precious wildlife reserve was quite rewarding.  Sadly there is alot of trash out there. I pick up all I can hiking in and half way in here's just no more I can do by myself so I leave it all at one of the reserve's signs and drag it all back on the hike out. The bayside overwash areas have SO much garbage washed up, almost all of it plastic. We need a team to go in one day and do a cleanup.

We should see if we could drum up some interest at the South End Surf n' Paddle "race" this weekend.

Nice vid....looks a lot like my local beach. Even similar size...3+ miles to the tip of the beach. Sucks about the trash. I pick up when I'm out there to and fortunately plenty of others do as well. Always shit washing up but it's kept pretty clear.

We've got a snowy owl out on our beach as well. Wintered there last year and he's back again this year. I didn't realize that some Kestrels are year round. I had a pair nesting in my tree farm for years but they didn't usually show up until April sometime. Fun to watch hunt.

Thanks, Marc...  (I think I will wait for next week - temps. in the 60's.)

Hope you don't mind that I posted it on our MD bird forum.  They typically type a lot of words but not much imagery to back it up.   Cheers.

Thanx for checkin' out the vid, boys. Can't wait to head back in again. Last year after 7 trips in during March my hip was pretty effed so gonna take it slow this year. So far so good w/only minimal pain after that long hike.

Here's a cool website where they track the snowys.
