Not sure why Rick didn't post this yet, but I just came across it on YouTube?

It was uploading when I went to sleep....
Since breakfast, I have been responding to the feedback from SUPsters around Portugal  :)

So:
I finally found the SUP crew in Portugal!
What a great crew... and there are lots of them.

I got a message on my youtube channel video about Portugal.
Two of my subscribers heard I was heading back from Nazare' and invited me to visit their home break.

I did not take a board to Nazare', because I would have no place to keep it.
Cisco said "no worries, we have plenty of boards"

Cisco and Isabel are totally awesome, they showed me first class hospitality and friendship.
It feels like I have always known them.

The break felt like home,  SUPs own this break  ;D

You will notice that I took a LOT of waves on the head....
It was such a relaxing experience after the juice I get thrashed by in Sagres.... just good fun to take a tumble.

When I first got there, it was clean and perfect.
We spent so much time talking and enjoying the vibe at the "Wall" that we were in no hurry.

Almost as soon as we paddled out, the wind switched, the tide changed and the swell got bigger.
The sets were all closing out, but I didn't care, the drops were fun and even the bouncing around was a nice change for me.

The break is in front of a huge wall, that holds up the coastal road.
Beachside, there are bars and restaurants built into the wall, as well as a SUP shop.... GUSU, owned by Manuel, a very sweet man!
It's the kind of place that you could hang out all day and never get bored.

In Sagres, surfing is more challenge than fun... and I'm getting to the point in life, that I want it easier.
I love the town of Sagres and the awesome day tripping adventures....
But I really felt at home in Cascais.
Odd, cuz I don't like cities.... but this neighborhood felt more like what I am looking for. Except for the traffic  :o
We walked out the front door, everything was there. and the people were awesome!

I'm going back soon!

Love the vid Creeker!!!  Very nice blend of surf, sites, and new found friends.

Pretty spectacular to see that kinds of weather in a place that I've always more or less considered a northern climate area in terms of general world geography.  We'll not have that kind of water and air combo until June!  :o 8) ;D

Have fun!

in my short time there, we went all over the place in tiago's sprinter full of boards---from ereceira to well south of lisbon---totally impressive the unlimited number of breaks we scoped and surfed all along that coast--and the culture seemed more relaxed than US---peaks werent as crowded as US, so that might be why......

keep em coming creek---btw? much as i am enjoying portugal.....where next?? i want nothing less than a series out of you!!

in fact, id hit a gofundme for a benji to get more of this! put it up--ill break the..........with a benji (insert "ice", not what you were thinking)--

same deal: super cheap off the radar surf destination (with legit consistent waves), with organic, local culture---featuring our creek mixing, in his creekster way, with the waves and the culture---ever frugal and zen, and admittedly broke, but happy and actually living enviably

like in my case--sitting in my office killing time waiting for a meeting i dread.....vs creekliving???

any showrunner zonoids out there??

not kidding creek---research your next trip, put up a gofundme, do not change your creekstyle, and i am your first benji to the next set of episodes

given your creek travel budgets, id bet you get close to goal, easily

have fun---be safe!

Thanks for the comments, it is awesome finally meeting some local SUPsters.
A lot of them read the Zone by the way, just not as members.

Thanks Eastie!

ha ha... I need a gofundme to get to next Wednesday  ;D ;D ;D

My no frills trip to Nazare' was as cheap as humanly possible,
but gas and tolls busted the budget!

I am left with $7.87 till the 20th
If I go "off budget" I have to get creative at this time every month  :)

hummmm.... people funding my surf trips for the video reviews....
I'll put on my thinking cap  :)

I learned a new word: "showrunner"

Eastie, I rolled through Ericiera on my way south, but Tiago was in Morocco...
it was big and clean.
No one out anywhere. (pic of Riberia d'ihas Beach)

Thanks NEPlay, I hope you are well!

Funny you mentioned that EB. I thought the same.....I'd pitch in for sure. I'm dreaming of following in his footsteps.

Maybe you should setup a blog creek. Have a spot where folks could make donations and a sidebar for businesses/folks that might want to help sponsor you. Shit...the Portuguese board of tourism should be sponsoring you...:)

Something like Cammar's Maui surf report. I have no idea how much he makes on it but he's been doing it for a long time.

LOVE IT!

Creek you are a PHENOM!  Spreading the love!

I want to surf with the Portugal crowd, takeoff on those bigger outside sets “I think I can, I think I can . . .”  Take one in the teeth like you @ 3:45.

I want to hang at GUSU and talk shop.  Chill with Isabel, Cisco and Manuel.

Great Stuff!!!!!

PS: Would have been even funnier if that guy was carrying a Sunova Creek.

Triple that thought.  I imagined the same thing before I read Easties or Stonaxe's post ---->

I love the Get Up Stand Up.... Bob Marley reference in that name. No surprise seeing Manuel is from Puerto Rico. Love that guy's spirit and stoke :)
Meeting all the great people you met in Cascais is what makes the most memorable trips. Stoked for you Creek.
