New line of boards from Tom Carroll and Blaine Chambers
« on: January 05, 2019, 11:10:45 PM »
For who love there PSH Hull Paddler's, here's a new line of similar boards from Tom Carroll Surf. A lot going on with the bottoms. Maybe they've been out for a while, but the first time I've seen them.

Nice surfing video too.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

The Outer Reef has been out for a year or more. I like the 10' x 32". That might be the big choppy wave board I'm looking for.

Thanks for posting the links. It made me take a closer look. $1,295 is doable.

Cool. Thanks.

Their shipping terms are contradictory so they might want to clean them up:
We currently only provide shipping to Mainland US, Australia* and New Zealand.
* extra changes will apply for services to remote locations and Islands EG: Northern Territory, Lord Howe Island etc

Like TD,  I cannot tell if this is very old news or something just released for the 2019 season.  I hope I remember correctly but were not TCs boards not given such hot reviews on the Breeze?  'Blane Chambers' makes my ears perk up ..like hearing Kirk McGinty or Bert Burger, but this copy/paste from TCs site is not encouraging.

"The Loose Leaf and Long Grain models are currently being upgraded. V2 of each model will be released in 2017"

If it was me and I lived in British Columbia like you do and if I "REALLY" wanted an Outer Reef, lets say the MX version which "isn't" even listed on their website yet, here is what I would do.

Call up the sales rep, go over lots of details and finalize the deal. The "deal" would include shipping the board to a terminal in Seattle which is in the United States. Then drive from British Columbia to Seattle, inspect the board at the terminal for any damage and if no damage, drive home to British Columbia with the board.

Bottom line. "If there is a Will, there is a Way".

That is true. But not desperate for a new board :-) and would indeed need more information on it beforehand anyway.
I tend to mostly buy used and local.

Wetstuff, +1 the Tom C. boards were panned on the Breeze. Even the Aussies had nothing good to say.

Chines can loosen up a big board and make behave like a smaller board. No free lunch as they can also have a major negative impact on stability.

Before I had my SCA, I was having a conversation with Blane on a custom H2 Destroyer.

A local elite SUP guy on CC had a demo loaner in the eight foot range. It was the most unstable board I had ever ridden. Given my cat like balance I asked my buddy what his experience was.

He laughed and said it was the only board that was, how shall we say, unsafe at any speed.

The Long Grain might have been doable, but I don't know.

As always, YMMV!

Thanks for the heads-up, indeed I was looking on the Breeze and could not find anything really positive. I think that I will stick with getting a used well known board rather than looking at a good deal for a new board that is an unknown quantity.
